Before moving to The Harvest my wife and I lived in an independent living community, we lived there for two years. When my wife was diagnosed with Dementia, it was no longer safe for us to live there because my wife would walk away from our apartment. So we talked to the community staff and they recommended The Harvest at Fowler. Since moving to The Harvest I have peace of mind knowing that we are in a safe and secure community and I no longer have to worry about Ellen’s safety.

There are lots of caregivers here at The Harvest, and the paging system is a big help for when I need something.

If I had to describe The Harvest with one word I would say “safe”.

I was a widow and lived alone for some time, my son came to visit and we talked about how it may be good for me to live somewhere where there would be people around me to socialize and look after me.

My son toured several places in the area and said that he liked The Harvest at Fowler better than any other place.

I have lived here for almost 13 years and really enjoy everyone here. I like it here because everyone is very nice to me. I get to do what I like and don’t have to worry about cooking, cleaning or doing laundry.

I enjoy getting my hair done weekly and I like that there is lots of walking areas for me to take my morning walks.

It’s a really nice place.

I lived in another community where I had a roommate and I was ready for a change. I heard about The Harvest through a friend who lived there.

I now have a private room and private bathroom to myself. It’s a very clean and attractive place and you will definitely be getting your money’s worth here.

My husband and I were active members of a local Baptist Church in Kingsburg, after my beloved husband passed away I lived on my own for over 20 years. My friends picked me up and took me to church because I couldn’t drive anymore. After some time, safety became an issue, so my family did some research and found The Harvest at Fowler.

Since moving in, I feel safe and one thing that stood out most when I got here was how friendly everyone is. After spending a few months here, I can say that the care I receive, the activities program and the food is the main reason why I would recommend The Harvest.

Why do I like it here? I have a saying on my door that I wrote that says “There’s no place like home, yes there is at The Harvest”.

I have been living here at The Harvest for six years and here are some of the reasons why I like it here. It’s very clean and the food is excellent. I enjoy playing bingo with everyone and I sometimes get to call Bingo. We have weekly church services and live entertainment which all of us really enjoy.

The employees here are great and the care is very good, the Medication Technicians who help me with my medication are very knowledgeable and are always willing to help. Whenever I have a maintenance issue like needing help with my TV, the Maintenance Director is on top of it. I like the retired owner he always stopped to chat with me when he was here. And I like the new owners too, they are very friendly.  We have a good Administrator I can talk to him anytime and he is one of the reasons why I will remain here.

Here is my last thought. If you need a retirement home come and join us at The Harvest.

My sister and I would like to start with a big “THANK YOU” to all the staff at The Harvest of Fowler.   The love, kindness, and generosity you  showed our mother is something we, her daughters, will always treasure.  Each member of the staff that was assigned to our mother went above and beyond just seeing that she was cared for.  Each member took the time to personally get to know our mother and treat her like family.  It showed in the kind words of affection and endearment they would use with her.  They took their time and never hurried her.  Also many times they would just sit and talk, and make her smile or laugh. They took the time to “care”.  My sister and I believe our mother got the best care a Community could provide.

Before putting our mom in a caregiving community, I personally went to different communities to check them out.  Since our aunt had been in a community previously, I had a very good idea what they provided and what I did not like. One of the things that was very important to my sister and me was that the community be secure yet homelike, not so big that mom would become lost in the building.  The Harvest provided that.

The other plus that The Harvest provided was that we could become “daughters” again and not be the caregivers.  Our lives had been on hold and The Harvest provided us with the ability to resume our normal lives. The Harvest allowed us the time to just enjoy our mom.  Aside, from the wonderful care given to our mom, the cuisine provided is excellent.  They provided a wonderful array of menus plus delicious desserts.  Grand tables were set for Thanksgiving, Mother’s Day, Christmas, and Easter (there was even an Easter egg hunt).  We were so blessed  to have participated in these festivities.

Would I recommend The Harvest to my friends? Yes, in a heartbeat. Again, THANK YOU to the administrators, medical staff, caregiving staff and food staff for being so supportive of our mother’s needs during a most difficult time.  The decision of  leaving our mother in your community and care turned out to be the best choice.
